Sound affects us in 2 ways via:
Psychoacoustics- The sound enters the body through the ears into the brain which in turn affects the brainwaves, the nervous system and heart rate.
Vibroacoustics- The vibration of the instruments and frequencies on and off the body promotes energy flow, circulation and impacts the body down to a cellular level.
There are many benefits of using sound to improve your health here are just three.
Balancing the Autonomic Nervous System
Using sound and frequency we can tone the vagus nerve. The autonomic nervous system controls the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, immune and digestive system. Working with sound tools , the breath and our own voices we can balance the ANS, shifting from sympathetic nervous system dominance to parasympathetic dominance and then back to balance.
Sound healing positively influences heart rate variability. Drumming and binaural beats have been shown to enhanced HRV improving autonomic regulation.
Stress Reduction
Around 80% of illness is caused by stress apparently. Sound healing has been shown to reduce stress levels by reducing cortisol and promoting neuroplasticity through the increase in dopamine production which then leads to a more optimum physical environment for healing and improved immune response.
Pain Management
Harmonic intervals in sound production psychoacoustically and vibroacoustically have been shown to reduce cortisol and release beta endorphins and dopamine which can help supress pain and improve mood. Research has been done on low frequency sound treatment and paid reduction outcomes in fibromyalgia .
1-1 Sound Healing Sessions with Dawn
Realign Your Body. Reset Your Energy. Remember Your Rhythm.
Come home to yourself through the power of sound.
Dawn gained her Integral Sound Healing Practitioner diploma in 2022 with the Academy of Sound Healing . She offers bespoke 1-1 sessions that blend guided meditation, sound therapy, and energetic re balancing to help you release what no longer serves you and restore your natural flow.
Each session begins with setting an intention and a gentle energetic assessment over your chakra system and biofield. From there, we work together intuitively with sound—including your own voice—to free stagnant energy and restore your natural vitality.
✨ Using a variety of instruments including crystal-tipped tuning forks to bring your body, mind, and energy field back to coherence and get the energy flowing once more.
✨ When placed directly on the body, these tuning forks stimulate piezoelectricity— activating your body’s natural healing intelligence and enhancing cellular communication for physical, emotional, and energetic healing.

The brain is structured into 2 hemispheres; the left and the right, associated with male and female. The left brain linked to reason, scientific proof and emotional objectivity. The right brain is linked to the feminine principle of creativity, intuition and empathy.
Using sound tools helps the two hemispheres to synchronize which leads to improved health. Brain balancing is commonly referred to as “Hemi Synch” named by the Monroe Institute for the work of D Robert Monroe, who pioneered the research into this theory.
Two frequencies are used to produce a third. That frequency being in a range that stimulates positive mental, emotional and physical responses. Through producing inherent rhythmic vibrations and sound to produce entraining harmonic frequencies. Dissonant vibration can be replaced ensuring that imbalanced areas lock into a rhythmic and coherent pattern, promoting equilibrium and positive states of consciousness which link to mental, emotional and physical balance, harmony and wellbeing.
A law of physics
Entrainment is the predisposition that two oscilliating bodies have whereby they will lock into phase so they vibrate in harmony with another.
Entrainment occurs when two or more rhythmic cycles become synchronized. The principle is universal and can be found in many areas of science, including chemistry, neurology, biology , medicine and astronomy.
When the brain is given stimulus through the ears or other senses it emits and electrical charge and when the brain is presented with a repeating stimulus is responds by synchronising these electrical cycles to the same rhythm- commonly known as frequency following response- FFR. With the use of instruments we can stimulate brainwave frequencies associated with wellbeing.
Psychoneuroimmunology is the study of the central nervous system and the immune system and how brainwave states affect this.
The autonomic nervous system along with the endocrine system controls the body’s internal organs and regulates many body functions such as blood flow, basal metabolism, muscle tone and our ability to relax or stay alert and ready for action.
This system is divided into 2 parts; the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. A balanced system is vital for our health & wellbeing.
An unbalanced system is characterized by:
Sympathetic dominance which can be caused by being in a state of stress, trauma, worry or pain and is often referred to as fight or flight. Due to the stresses of life many of us although we may not know it are functioning via the sympathetic system. Symptoms of this include; muscle tension, poor digestion, joint pain, shallow breathing, insomnia and emotional overwhelm.
Para sympathetic dominance is often referred to a freeze state . If we find ourselves stuck in sympathetic nervous system dominance for too long there is a danger, we could end up here in freeze state. Symptoms of this include depression, withdrawal and chronic fatigue.
An unbalanced system also reduces nitric oxide production and in extreme cases a complete shutdown of production. This can then lead to a depressed immune function which may manifest initially as fatigue, joint pain, depression and poor digestion. Over a period of time if nitric oxide rhythms are not re stimulated these symptoms can escalate into major diseases.
Sound can help accomplish a shift in this balance by raising or lowering the pitch of the system. Toning the vagus nerve is the key to achieving this balance , and the easiest way is with the breath and the voice.
