Sound affects us in two ways: through psychoacoustics and vibroacoustics. Psychoacoustics refers to how sound enters the body via the ears and impacts the brain, influencing brainwaves, the nervous system, and heart rate. On the other hand, vibroacoustics involves the vibrations of instruments and frequencies that promote energy flow, enhance circulation, and affect the body at a cellular level. There are numerous benefits of sound therapy for health, and here are three key advantages. First, balancing the autonomic nervous system can be achieved using sound and frequency to tone the vagus nerve. The autonomic nervous system regulates the cardiovascular, respiratory, immune, and digestive systems. By utilizing sound tools, breathwork, and our own voices, we can shift from sympathetic dominance to parasympathetic dominance, ultimately restoring balance. Sound healing also positively influences heart rate variability; drumming and binaural beats have been shown to enhance HRV, thereby improving autonomic regulation. Second, stress reduction is crucial since around 80% of illnesses are stress-related. Sound therapy has been proven to lower stress levels by reducing cortisol, while promoting neuroplasticity through increased dopamine production, creating a more optimal physical environment for healing and enhancing immune response. Lastly, pain management can be effectively addressed through harmonic intervals in sound production, both psychoacoustically and vibroacoustically. This approach has demonstrated the ability to reduce cortisol levels and release beta endorphins and dopamine, which help suppress pain and elevate mood. Research has also shown that low-frequency sound treatment can lead to positive pain reduction outcomes in fibromyalgia.

The brain is structured into two hemispheres: the left and the right, often associated with male and female qualities. The left brain is linked to reason, scientific proof, and emotional objectivity, while the right brain embodies the feminine principles of creativity, intuition, and empathy. Utilizing sound therapy techniques, such as psychoacoustics, helps synchronize the two hemispheres, leading to improved health. This brain balancing method is commonly referred to as 'Hemi Sync,' a term coined by the Monroe Institute, founded by D. Robert Monroe, who pioneered research in this field. By employing vibroacoustics, two frequencies are combined to produce a third frequency that stimulates positive mental, emotional, and physical responses. This method generates inherent rhythmic vibrations and sound to create entraining harmonic frequencies. Dissonant vibrations can be replaced, ensuring that imbalanced areas align into a rhythmic and coherent pattern, promoting equilibrium and positive states of consciousness that connect to mental, emotional, and physical balance, harmony, and overall well-being.

A law of physics, entrainment is the predisposition that two oscillating bodies have whereby they will lock into phase so they vibrate in harmony with one another. Entrainment occurs when two or more rhythmic cycles become synchronized, a principle that is universal and can be found in many areas of science, including chemistry, neurology

Entrainment occurs when two or more rhythmic cycles become synchronized, a principle that is universal and can be found in many areas of science, including chemistry, neurology, biology, medicine, and astronomy. In the realm of psychoacoustics, when the brain receives stimuli through the ears or other senses, it emits an electrical charge. When presented with a repeating stimulus, the brain responds by synchronizing these electrical cycles to the same rhythm, commonly known as frequency following response (FFR). By utilizing sound therapy techniques and instruments, we can stimulate brainwave frequencies associated with well-being. Furthermore, psychoneuroimmunology examines the relationship between the central nervous system and the immune system, exploring how different brainwave states, influenced by vibroacoustics, affect overall health.

The autonomic nervous system, along with the endocrine system, plays a crucial role in controlling the body’s internal organs and regulating various body functions such as blood flow, basal metabolism, muscle tone, and our ability to relax or remain alert and ready for action. This system is divided into two parts: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. A balanced system is vital for our health and wellbeing. An unbalanced system is often characterized by sympathetic dominance, which can result from stress, trauma, worry, or pain, commonly referred to as the fight or flight response. Due to life's stresses, many of us may unknowingly operate via the sympathetic system, leading to symptoms like muscle tension, poor digestion, joint pain, shallow breathing, insomnia, and emotional overwhelm. Conversely, parasympathetic dominance is often described as a freeze state. If we remain in sympathetic nervous system dominance for too long, we risk entering this freeze state, which can manifest as depression, withdrawal, and chronic fatigue. Additionally, an unbalanced system can reduce nitric oxide production, and in extreme cases, lead to a complete shutdown of production. This decline can result in a depressed immune function, initially presenting as fatigue, joint pain, depression, and poor digestion. Over time, if nitric oxide rhythms are not re-stimulated, these symptoms can escalate into major diseases. Psychoacoustics, through sound therapy, can assist in achieving a shift in this balance by raising or lowering the system's pitch. Toning the vagus nerve is essential for attaining this balance, and the simplest methods involve utilizing breath and voice, often enhanced through vibroacoustics techniques.
1-1 Sound Healing Sessions with Dawn
Realign Your Body. Reset Your Energy. Remember Your Rhythm.
Come home to yourself through the power of sound therapy and psychoacoustics.
Dawn gained her Integral Sound Healing Practitioner diploma in 2022 with the Academy of Sound Healing. She offers bespoke 1-1 sessions that blend guided meditation, sound therapy, and energetic rebalancing to help you release what no longer serves you and restore your natural flow.
Each session begins with setting an intention and a gentle energetic assessment over your chakra system and biofield. From there, we work together intuitively with sound—including your own voice—to free stagnant energy and restore your natural vitality.
Using a variety of instruments, including crystal-tipped tuning forks that utilize vibroacoustics, we bring your body, mind, and energy field back to coherence and get the energy flowing once more.
When placed directly on the body, these tuning forks stimulate piezoelectricity—activating your body’s natural healing intelligence and enhancing cellular communication for physical, emotional, and energetic healing.
